1. What methods of sterilization does “About the Ink” use?

“About the Ink” takes yours and our safety very seriously. All of our equipment is sterilized in an autoclave, which is the same thing they use in a hospital or doctor's office. Every needle is brand new and sterile, along with the ink and other supplies used for each individual tattoo, then disposed of properly upon completion, making your tattooing experience as safe as possible.

2. Does it hurt?

Most of our clients agree that it is more of an annoyance than anything else (kind of like marriage) . It doesn't always feel good,  but it is a very tolerable sensation.

3. Where is  “About the Ink”  located?

We are located at 4433 Crain Highway, White Plains, Maryland. For those of you familiar with southern Maryland, we are located exactly 1 1/2 mile south of the St. Charles Towne Center Mall, at the intersection of Demarr Road, and Crain highway. For a Map Click this Link ......

6. How much does a tattoo cost?

A Price is very hard to give without seeing what we are going to tattoo on you. So bring us a picture, Email a picture to us, or come on down and  have one of us draw something up for you. The price will depend on many factors, but basically it boils down to the time we will invest into Setting up the tattoo for you, and the actual procedure of doing the tattoo.

7. How do I set up an appointment?

To set up an appointment you must come down to the studio with any ideas and references you may have. This makes it easier for us to assess the amount of time it will take to complete your procedure. You will need to talk to one of our artists and leave a cash deposit before an appointment can be made.

8. Does “About the Ink” do cover-ups, retouch or color enhancement on an existing  tattoo?

..... .....Yes we do. It is not our favorite thing to do, but we feel that everyone should be happy with the tattoo they have. Even if the tattoo is terribly done, or a name of some lame Ex, we here at  “About the Ink” feel everyone has the right to screw up once

9. How do I take care of my new tattoo?

Leave the bandage on your new tattoo for at least 1 hour. After you remove the bandage gently wash the tattoo using only your fingertips and warm, soapy water. Apply a THIN coat of EUCERIN  original moisturizing CRÈME for about 2 weeks twice a day or as needed. The healing tattoo will be itchy and flaky. The flakes appear similar to the way a sunburn peels, and they might have a little bit of tint to them. This is normal. DO NOT pick or scratch. DO NOT soak in a bath or hot tub, go swimming, or expose the tattoo to sunlight or tanning beds for at least two weeks. If you have any further questions about the healing process, feel free to call us.
